IS SUICIDE REALLY A PROBLEM?

1 Million people die each year from suicide globally

Every 40 seconds someone in the world dies by suicide

Every 40 seconds someone in the world dies by suicide

Due to the stigma associated with suicide – and the fact that it is illegal in some countries this figure is also likely to be an underestimate, with some suicides being classified as unintentional injuries.

Every 40 seconds someone in the world dies by suicide

Every 40 seconds someone in the world dies by suicide

Every 40 seconds someone in the world dies by suicide

The number of people who think about or attempt suicide is even higher

Suicide is the 15th leading cause of death globally

Every 40 seconds someone in the world dies by suicide

For every 1 suicide 25 people make a suicide attempt

Its the 2nd leading cause of death among young people aged 15-29 and 5th for those aged 30-49 globally.

For every 1 suicide 25 people make a suicide attempt

For every 1 suicide 25 people make a suicide attempt

For every 1 suicide 25 people make a suicide attempt

Every year, more people die as a result of suicide than HIV, malaria or breast cancer  ̶  or war and homicide.

Men commit suicide more than women

For every 1 suicide 25 people make a suicide attempt

Depression is among the leading cause of suicide

Relatives & close friends of people who die by suicide are a high-risk group for suicide

Depression is among the leading cause of suicide

Depression is among the leading cause of suicide

Due to Stigma and taboo, particularly surrounding mental disorders and suicide, means many people thinking of taking their own life or who have attempted suicide are not seeking help and are therefore not getting the help they need

Why there is a need to create awareness about suicide prevenTION?

  • In most countries there is limited access and facilities for Mental health
  • Even if there are facilities available people with suicidal thoughts hesitate to approach or seek help from doctors/mental health doctors/psychiatrist, etc.
  • Because of Stigma and taboo, particularly surrounding mental disorders and suicide, many people thinking of taking their own life or who have attempted suicide are not seeking help and are therefore not getting the help they need
  • Many times problems/issues people have are from there closed ones only, hence they do not want to approach or seek advice from them
  • In the current fast pace of life we are living in, it’s not possible to be say there will not be any stress or pressure. There will be stress, pressure and one cannot fully avoid it. Which means there are always chances of one getting into depression
  • Suicides are totally preventable

SUICIDE IS TOTALLY PREVENTABLE!

ABOUT US

Global Suicide Prevention Squad is a initiative of Kinging Youth Foundation.  The Core Vision of this program is to have a suicide-free world by 31st December 2030. We aim to achieve the same by raising  15 million (1 crore 50 lakh) volunteers in India, 2 million (20 Lakh) in Nigeria, 80 million (8 Crore) volunteers called LIFE SAVIOURS (JEEVAN RAKSHAKS) worldwide.

  • Suicide attempts are not committed because that person wants to end life it's because he doesn't want to live
  • Many times people suffer from problems and instead of finding solutions they take the extreme step of ending life
  • It doesn't matter if there are downs or setbacks in life, no problem is so big that it cannot be fixed
  • We believe Life is a journey, it’s to live and we want everyone know "Life is precious" and "There is
